Job Opening with Saddle Creek Corporation

The Company – Saddle Creek Corporation is a 40-year old privately held leading provider of warehousing, transportation, and integrated logistics services. We provide distribution solutions for contract and public warehousing, along with specialty packaging, bar coding, inventory management and logistics outsourcing. Headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, Saddle Creek employs over 1,400 associates and has facilities located in 17 cities in the southeastern and southwestern United States.

The Saddle Creek management team believes that the understanding of our customer’s needs and providing solutions is a key to long-term competitive success. In today’s business environment many of those solutions will be provided through technology. Therefore, we must leverage leading edge systems that meet our customer’s needs and requirements. The Network Engineer position is a critical component to our competitive success.

The Position – The Network Engineer is responsible for the health and security of all SCC local and wide area networks. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

-Design, configure, and maintain routing, security, and switching solutions for local and wide area networks.
-Coordinate specifying, procuring, provisioning, and installing of data communications circuits and equipment.
-Develop network documentation, procedures, and monitoring strategies.
-Provide network utilization statistics, status reports, and change recommendations as appropriate.
-Perform systems administrator and technical support functions for Windows based operating systems.
-Isolate problem trends and troubleshoot recurring issues to find permanent solutions.
-Assist in the development of a corporate disaster recovery plan.
-Configure and install customer co-located infrastructure as requested.
-Travel as required (up to 25%).
-Participate in the Technical Services "On Call" rotation schedule.

Education – An undergraduate degree with solid academic accomplishments, preferably in a technology related field is preferred. An advanced, or computer science, degree would receive favorable consideration. CCNP or CCSP certification is required, CCIE certification preferred. Microsoft certification is a plus.

Experience – The candidate will have proven experience with multiple implementations of multi-site high availability networking solutions including multi-vendor networking utilizing OSPF, HSRP, and BGP. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate high degrees of competency in analysis, troubleshooting, documentation, and project management; and must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
