Success By 6 and Family Fundamentals
At our November 8th luncheon event we will be holding a book drive to benefit Success By 6 and Family Fundamentals. We will be accepting new and gently used books for children ages 2-5 years.
United Way of Central Florida's Success By 6 is an effort to give all children the physical, emotional, social, and mental foundations by age 6 they need to succeed in school and life.
Just one-half of children entering kindergarten in Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties have the early literacy skills needed to enter kindergarten ready to learn.
Success By 6 is Helping Children and Families
In collaboration with a variety of agencies and organizations some of Success By 6 current initiatives are:
Parent Lending Libraries are in childcare centers and businesses to encourage parents to read to their children.
The Family Fundamentals parent resource center in Lakeland, at the corner of Memorial and Lakeland Hills Boulevard.

Classes currently offered include school readiness activities, GED, and parent education. There is a library, computer lab, learning kitchen, craft room, playroom, and meeting rooms.
