Duties: Join a fun, fast-paced team in the Office of University Relations at the University of South Florida Lakeland. This position provides administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director and a broad range of functions, including scheduling, marketing, communications, media and community relations, and special events.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and four years of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and capacity to learn proprietary software packages (such as database or accounting applications). Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to work in a collaborative environment, manage deadlines, juggle competing priorities, and help diverse constituencies fall in love with USF Lakeland. Typing speed of 45 cwpm.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; creativity, and experience with marketing, special events, and/or public relations. Ability to type 65 cwpm.

Aussie Moomba to Benefit BBBS - October 18, 2006

FIRST ANNUAL “AUSSIE MOOMBA FEST” SET FOR OCTOBER 19th
Big Brothers Big Sisters invite you to attend the “Aussie Moomba Fest”. Come and experience a night like no other and be transported to another country down under and enjoy this Australian-themed evening knowing that you are making a difference in the life of a child.
Lakeland, FL – Big Brothers Big Sisters’ First Annual “Aussie Moomba Fest”, social event and fundraising auction, is scheduled for October 19th at 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Mirror Auditorium, 121 South Lake Ave. in Lakeland.
This action-packed evening of fun and philanthropy will include casino games, such as black jack, roulette and poker (including Texas Hold’em), entertainment, silent auctions, and dinner from Outback Steakhouse. Come dressed like a mate from down under, as this night is all about the Outback and Aussie living!
All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. In 2004, our national agency celebrated 100 years of service – strengthening communities by providing high-quality, life-enriching mentoring relationships between volunteers and children. Currently, 1,900 children in Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties are paired with a Big Brother or Big Sister with another 500 kids on the agency’s ready-to-be-matched list.
Event sponsors include Outback Steakhouse; Publix Super Markets Charities; Summit; GEICO; Bernie Little Distributors; Clark, Campbell & Mawhinney Attorneys-at-Law; Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida; Central Florida’s Big 4 and The Ledger.
Reserved tables of eight are available for $400 and include signage in a priority location.
