FSC-Director of Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Director of Development
Florida Southern College

Reports to: Vice President for Advancement
Qualifications: five years experience in office management, preferably with a background in not-for-profit fundraising; bachelor's degree

Description of position: The Director of Development is responsible for the daily management of the development program.

Essential job responsibilities:

1. Manage all development staff.
2. Assist the vice president for advancement with planning the overall development strategy for the institution, including the identification and cultivation of new prospects.
3. Track all operations of the annual fund, the major gifts campaign, and capital projects.
4. Oversee the planning and implementation of all donor events.
5. Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major gift prospects.

Other duties:
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Advancement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Interpersonal Skills: The Director of Development must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written; a professional demeanor; a demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with diverse personal styles; good telephone and customer-service skills; the knowledge and ability to keep confidences when necessary; and the ability to handle diverse types of work assignments.
Required: Computer literacy, strong ability in planning and organization, proven management skills, excellent writing and editing skills.
