Volunteer Opportunity with Junior Achievement - September 28, 2011

Junior Achievement is having JA Day! On Friday, December 2nd from 8:30 to noon Junior Achievement is partnering with Southeastern University to teach classes at Lakeland Highlands Middle and Philip O’Brien Elementary schools . They will teach five lessons over a three and a half hour morning to children in grades 1-4.

How a JA Day works is that rather than coming 45 minutes a week for five or six weeks, the curriculum is consolidated into one 3 ½ - 4 hour visit teaching all of the lessons at once. They will be covering topics including: A want versus a need. How to live on a budget. Cash versus credit. Apply decision-making strategies to education and career choices. Don't you wish someone had taught you these things as you were growing up? Now there is someone - YOU!

All you need is your enthusiasm, life experience and a willingness to teach Polk County students about how you took chances and shot for the stars. Junior Achievement provides the training, curriculum and a classroom ready to meet you. Training will take about 90 minutes. If you would like to participate please contact Marci Miller, Junior Achievement Education Manager at Marci.Miller@ja.org or 863.603.0254.
